Below are our recommendations for both low-key and higher-energy activities– in the Hammock and in the broader locale. Please refer to TripAdvisor for specific details and for more local adventures that might not be listed here.
When we leave the Hammock for food, drink, or fun, we tend to go to Flagler Beach, St. Augustine Beach, St. Augustine city, Daytona Beach and Ponce Inlet. The drugstore, liquor store, and post office are in Palm Coast, so we go there occasionally.

The beaches in The Hammock are gorgeous and sparsely populated. Our sand is golden-reddish and more course because it is made from crushed coquina shells. The National Park Fort in St. Augustine and the “Palm Villas” in the Hammock are extraordinary examples of buildings made of coquina. Washington Oaks Gardens State Park has the 2nd largest coquina rock formation in Florida. Stunning. Most stretches of beach are smooth coquina sand, but you will see some stretches dotted with large coquina rocks. We have several coquina boulders at the Sea Breeze Bungalow. The golden-red color is just spectacular.
